Tim Tebow (25th overall pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft...and still the BACKUP QB) Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Florida anymore.

Which player will have the most rushing yards in the 2011-2012 NFL season?

No Escape

No Escape

This years NFL playoffs are anything but normal. Although each season is filled with twists, turns, and its intricate story lines, this year, to me at least, seems to out-trump tales of seasons past, at least the recent past. The post season began with inquiries about Tom Brady and the re-surging Pats, who seemed to be poised for another deep post season run, Kurt Warner and his 2 prized stallions; Fitzgerald and Boldin, and whether they can make another surprise run to the Super Bowl. There’s the Philadelphia Eagles and their high powered offense, and Dallas and their Billion Dollar home field advantage. Then there’s the upstart New York Jets, led by 2 rookies, Pre-Madonna USC QB Mark Sanchez, and brash chip off the old block Rex Ryan, son of the very colorful Defensive stalwart Buddy Ryan. And then there’s Old Man Brett, up out of the rocking chair and into the driver seat of the NFC’s #2 seed Minnesota Vikings. So with many questions to answer, and a variety of perspectives to argue, I have a much more aggravating topic to argue from this Postseason, the awarding of Defensive Player of the Year. Now although it was awarded last weekend to former Hiesman Winner and Michigan great, Charles Woodson, the award from public opinion is still up for decision. So lets get straight to the point. I have been receiving a lot of flack for my support of Woodson’s awarding, opposed by arguments that Darrell Revis, outstanding shutdown corner of the #1 rated New York Jets Defense, not only erased superstar receiver after superstar receiver each week, but was definitely robbed for an award that CLEARLY belonged to him. So lets analyze:
There are two ways to look at this:
Fact and Opinion ---- The facts say Charles Woodson was way more productive, although Revis’ contributions don’t go unnoticed. Woodson statistics are immeasurable, 9 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles, 3 touchdowns, along with 2 sacks and 75 tackles. Revis countered with 54 solo tackles and 5 interceptions, not to mention blanking the likes of Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Steve Smith (Panthers), and Chad OchoCinco. Opinion would say the list of stranded habitants on “Revis Island” gives the Jets All-Pro Corner the edge in any argument. Now as a former Division II defensive back, I cannot overlook the level of competition he faced all season, and he deserves a lot of credit. The fact is, Revis is undoubtedly the best Cornerback in the league, just not the Defensive Player of the Year. Now any knowledgeable NFL fan will know, turnovers are the most telling and meaningful stat in all of football. And although Revis may be the best player on the best defense in football, he has no counter argument for Woodson 14 turnovers and 3 tds. Charles’ production for Green Bay has helped them claim the #2 overall rank. So lets look at it this way, choosing the defensive player for this year is sort of like my dating life: They’re both hot chicks, one has a voluptuous top, the other, a robust bottom. Take you pick, or shall I say, pick your poison. So how do you decide, you take them both out, figure out which has the most money, least amount of kids, and who is the nicest. Simple enough right? I guess this year, Revis just had too many kids, smh……at least its income tax time….lol
P.S. If Revis should have won, Explain to me why Deion Sanders never won a Defensive Player of the Year Award………All he did was do what Revis did this year, for his whole career…..?????
