1 is the Loneliest & Unluckiest Number: Greg Oden meets Blake Griffin




Greg Oden
College: Ohio State
Drafted: 2007 - 1st round (1st pick) by the Portland Trail Blazers
Position: Center
Height: 7'0
Weight: 270 lbs
Season ending injuries since draft: 2
  • September 14, 2007- Oden had microfracture surgery on his ailing right knee. He missed the entire season.
  • Although picked first overall in the 2007 NBA Draft, Oden was classified as a rookie for the 2008–09 season ecause of the knee injury.
  • February 13, 2009- he injured his left knee in a game against the Golden State Warriors, by bumping knees with opponent Corey Maggette, and missed three weeks due to a fractured knee cap.
  • December 5, 2009- Oden injured his left knee in the first quarter and was taken off the court on a stretcher. He underwent surgery for a fractured left patella and will miss the rest of the season. This injury marks the second time Oden has missed major playing time due to injury.




Blake Griffin
College: Oklahoma
Drafted: 2009 - 1st round (1st pick) by the Los Angles Clippers
Position: Forward
Height: 6'10
Weight: 251 lbs
Season ending injuries since draft: 1

  • January 14,2008- Griffin suffered a sprained Medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee five minutes into the Sooners game against the Kansas Jayhawks.
  • Less than two months after injuring his left knee, he injured his right knee against Texas A&M. The injury this time was torn cartilage, and he had arthroscopic surgery, March 2, 2008.
  • October 25, 2009- suffered a stress fracture in his left knee against the New Orleans Hornets, putting off his NBA debut for several weeks.

  • January 13, 2010- after tests revealed that Griffin's knee was not recovering properly, it was reported that Griffin would require another surgery to repair the fracture, and will be out for the season.
